History
Retired educators, Delories E. Horton and Ernestine D. Hogan agreed in 2007 to join Earnestine D. Pittman, whose idea was to create a non-profit organization that would better the lives of youth. The first and/or maiden names of Delories Epps Horton, Earnestine D. Pittman, and Ernestine Dearing Hogan begin with the alphabets, “E” or “D”. The three “E. D.’s” were incorporated into the name for the non-profit group (E. D. Cubed, Inc.). E.D. Cubed, Inc.’s slogan, Everlasting Educational Experiences, was also derived from the three E’s in the initials in their first and/or maiden names. In 2008, Sarah M. Finley, who had retired from a career in social services, agreed to join the group. Having retired from exciting and rewarding careers in education and social services, the four high school classmates created the non-profit organization, E.D. Cubed, Inc., which would help talented high school students and specific financially needy families and/or individuals similar to those they encountered in their professional careers.
With invaluable, pro bono, voluntary assistance from Attorney E. Fitzgerald Veira of Troutman Sanders LLP; the long process of starting a non-profit corporation began. When E.D. Cubed, Inc. became registered and certified in 2008 by the State of Georgia, the dream became a reality!
In 2008, Jarret L. Finley created E.D. Cubed, Inc.’s web site and designed (pro bono) the E.D. Cubed, Inc. logo and business cards.
E.D. Cubed, Inc.’s Board of Directors and Auxiliary Members administer its mission.
With magnanimous and meticulous assistance from Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta Attorneys, Daniel Rollman and Matt Servies [of DLA Piper LLP (US) Atlanta, Georgia] and April R. Robinson [of King & Spaulding LLP Houston, Texas], E.D. Cubed, Inc. attained federal certified status as a 501 (c) 3 organization effective January 26, 2010.
